How to add a habit tracker widget to your iPhone

A habit tracker widget keeps a reminder of your routine on the screen you already use. With Revebit, you can choose a compact progress view or, with Pro, a large photo puzzle. Here is how to add one, choose the right habit, and make it useful without crowding your Home Screen.

A peaceful natural landscape

Before you add the widget

Install Revebit and open it to create a habit first. Give the habit a name that describes an action, such as “Read for ten minutes,” rather than a broad ambition such as “Read more.” Complete the setup in the app before looking for that habit in the widget picker.

Think about what you want the widget to show. A calendar can answer “Have I been showing up?” A photo puzzle can make your progress feel more personal. You do not need the largest format simply because it is available.

Add Revebit to your Home Screen

  1. Go to the Home Screen and touch and hold an empty area until the app icons begin to move.
  2. Tap Edit, then Add Widget. On some older iOS versions, the entry point is a plus button.
  3. Find Revebit in the widget gallery.
  4. Swipe through the available sizes and choose the one you want.
  5. Tap Add Widget, position the widget, and tap Done.
  6. Touch and hold the added widget, choose Edit Widget, and select your habit or view settings when available.

The current Home Screen flow is described in Apple’s widget setup guide. Labels can vary with your iOS version and language.

Choose a view that answers your question

SizeRevebit viewUseful when
SmallLast 12 Weeks or This MonthYou want a compact view of consistency.
MediumAnnual Habit or Habit ListYou want a wider history or an overview of habits.
LargePhoto puzzle with ProYou want your picture and progress to have more space.

The large photo puzzle widget requires Revebit Pro. Small and medium widgets show different progress views; they are not smaller versions of the photo puzzle. See the widget feature guide for the visual differences.

Give the widget a practical home

Place a reading widget near the app you open when winding down, or put a walking reminder on the Home Screen you usually see before leaving home. Keep the habit name readable. If the screen already feels busy, move an unrelated widget before adding another.

Try one placement for several days. Notice whether you actually see it around the time you intend to act. Moving it once based on your real routine is more useful than repeatedly redesigning your whole phone.

Use the widget as a view of progress and open Revebit to record completion. This guide does not assume that tapping a widget directly completes a habit.

If something looks wrong

  • Revebit is missing: check that installation finished and open the app once before reopening the widget gallery.
  • “Select a habit” appears: edit the widget and choose an existing active habit.
  • The wrong habit appears: check the widget’s selected habit rather than creating a duplicate.
  • The large widget is locked: check your Pro access inside Revebit.
  • The photo is missing: open the habit in the app and check its selected image.
  • Progress looks older: confirm the completion in the app, then allow time for iOS to refresh the widget.

If it still does not work, note your iOS version, widget size, and the exact message shown when contacting support. That makes the problem easier to reproduce.

Finish with one simple routine

For a first setup, choose one habit, one widget, and one clear moment to act. For example: after making evening tea, read ten minutes, record the session in Revebit, and let the widget reflect that progress. If you would like the picture itself to become part of the experience, explore photo reveals.
